Soprano Katie Jillson has been delighting audiences with her singing for the past two decades, performing with organizations in the New England area such as Masterworks Chorale (Cambridge), the Paul Madore Chorale (Salem), Boston Cecilia,  Zensemble (Jamaica Plain), and The Down East singers of Thomaston, Maine.  She is also a frequent soloist at St. Ignatius of Loyola church in Chestnut Hill, where she has been a member of the music ministry since 1999. 

 

Katie’s musical studies began with the piano at the age of 7, and she discovered her passion for singing in her early adolescent years.  She later completed her musical studies at the New England Conservatory of Music, where she earned a Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance. Katie is currently pursuing her Masters In Voice at the Longy School of Music at Bard College in Cambridge MA. Katie was selected as a participant in the 2016 OperaWorks Winter Intensive Program. Most recently in May of 2021, Katie performed a solo recital at the Longy School of Muisic.  Here she sang the works of Mozart, Poulenc and Hamilton. In fall 2021, Katie will be performing in the opera Alcina by George Friedrich Handel at the Longy School of Music.  Excelling in the early and classical repertoire, Katie has performed as a soloist in works including the Messiah, Chichester Psalms (Bernstein), Bach's St. Matthew Passion, Stabat Mater (Poulenc), Der Hirt auf dem Felsen (Schubert), and the Mozart Requiem.
